KYUSAKICHI ZA Damascus Petty 145, 69 layers

  • SKU: 080294
The domain of the Petty knife lies in smaller cutting and peeling tasks. This alone makes it clear that this knife will often be in hand. To ensure these tasks can be carried out with great ease and enjoyment, Yoshida has applied its traditional blacksmithing skills to create a beautiful, straightforward, and easy-to-handle knife.
The blade of the Kuyusakichi ZA Damascus Petty by Yoshida consists of a cutting core and 68 layers of Damascus steel. The cutting core is forged from ZA-18 stainless steel by Aichi Steel, Aichi’s answer to the famous VG-10 steel by Hitachi. ZA-18 differs from VG-10 by having slightly more chromium and a higher carbon content. This allows the steel to be forged 1–3 HRC harder. The Damascus layers result in a very beautiful but not overly flashy pattern on the blade. The typically Japanese octagonal handle is made from Bombay Black Wood – also known as East Indian Rosewood or Sonokeling – a luxurious wood species from India and Sri Lanka. This hard, particularly durable wood impresses with its natural beauty. The octagonal shape ensures excellent handling and a secure grip. The ferrule is made from laminated plywood.
The Kuyusakichi ZA Damascus Petty is very light, very well-balanced, and very sharp. It offers excellent control and fits perfectly in the hand.
