Japanese Designers
Designers from Japan
Few countries manage as well as Japan to incorporate influences from tradition, nature, and culture into its design style. The aesthetics are often characterized by minimalism and inspiration from the simple and everyday. Beautiful, what emerges from this.
Japanese design is often characterized by respect
During our visit to the University of Traditional Crafts in Kanazawa, it becomes clear how much respect this country has for the tried and tested. Old crafts are preserved from being lost and combined with new, innovative design ideas from young designers. The teachings of traditional culture, such as the way of tea, are integrated into the curriculum. The respectful treatment of nature in the teachings is also taken into account to the extent that preserving the knowledge of traditional craftsmanship provides the best basis for further improving product manufacture. Wonderful works are created that carry the spirit of Japan's history.
