The kiln of Minowadagama is located in Ishinomaki-shi, a place in the northern part of Japan's main island. The prefecture is Miyagi, bordering Iwate to the south. The nature here is lush yet rugged. This area was formerly known as part of Hitakami, a region mentioned in many historical writings. One of the defining features of the landscape is the Kitakami River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean. Minowadagama produces items that stem from this environment and are intended for daily life. Accordingly, since the kiln's founding, native natural materials such as local clay, stones from the sacred Mount Jobonsan, and various indigenous woods have been consistently utilized. Even the glazes are made from local materials. Eiji Kameyama is a ceramic artist and owner of the kiln, whose tradition dates back over 300 years.
