Potter Shinobu Hashimoto, born in Tokyo in 1969, founded the Tenstone Studio and Gallery in Hokkaido, Japan. His goal is to design and create ceramics that complement our modern lifestyle. He keeps the forms simple with minimal decoration and remains true to the original texture and shape of the clay.
Shinobu's hard work and eye for detail are evident in the finished works. Each one is made on the potter's wheel and then treated with a mix of experimental techniques. One of these techniques involves using slip instead of glaze to create a crackle effect on the surface. All of Shinobu's vessels have a lot of character and a highly individual aesthetic. We hope you enjoy them.
