Chazutsu
Chazutsu, or Chatsubo - the Japanese tea caddy
Chazutsu means tea tin or tea container in Japanese and usually describes the product group of traditionally made tea caddies made from cherry wood or cherry tree bark, which are also called kabazaiku. The term kabazaiku is made up of the words kaba (meaning birch) and saiku (meaning handicraft). According to our research, the birch is included in this term, as birch bark was also used for production in the past. However, chazutsu is also used to describe metal tea caddies.
