Nanbu Tekki

Nanbu Tekki (Translated: “Ironware from Nanbu”) is a unique, traditional cast iron craft from Iwate Prefecture. The hand-made Japanese cast iron pans, pots and teapots are known worldwide. The name Nanbu (or Nambu) comes from Nambuchan, a clan that ruled the Iwate region in the early Edo period. In the mid-17th century, craftsmen from the Kyoto region were first invited to make the black ironware.
