The hard cover: Beautiful Chiyogami from Japan

Chiyogami is a particularly traditional representative of Japanese papermaking. The history of Chiyogmai, \"paper of a thousand generations\", goes back to the Japanese Edo period (17th century). The basis is Kozu paper, made from the bark of the mulberry tree, with its long, strong and elastic fibers a very stable and high-quality paper. The impressive motifs are created by hand through elaborate and time-consuming screen printing. The patterns are based on Japanese kimono fabrics. Color layer for color layer is applied in each case with a new, precisely matched screen. A typical white border remains. Patience is required because the paper must dry after each printing pass. Chiyogami is traditionally used as a material for dolls, boxes or tea caddies. It is excellent as a cover paper, for decoration purposes, as origami paper and, to give a special touch to loving gifts, as wrapping paper.

The inside: Rivoli, pure noble writing paper

The depth and grace of this beautiful writing paper comes from the fact that it consists of 25% rags. Rags - rags and scraps of cloth - were a very important raw material for paper making for centuries. Nowadays, however, fresh cotton fibers are used. Characteristic is the smoothed surface, which makes it a pure pleasure to write on this paper with fountain pen, quill or other writing utensils.
