"Gyokuro Tokufu, organic, super premium"
Gyokuro Tokufu, Organic
The noblest tea among Japanese green teas is the Gyokuro. Weeks of shading protect the tea bushes from too much light, slowing growth and enriching the tea with chlorophyll, the basis for its pleasant floral fragrance. This organic gyokuro will delight you with its deep, elegant, sweet umami. Its character testifies to true greatness and noble origin. Specialists were at work, because the skill and experience of the tea growers play a significant role in the quality of the tea. The elaborate cultivation method gives Gyokuro its very special characteristics in taste but also in its health-promoting effect. Due to the shading, Gyokuro is particularly rich in theanine, the healthy and gentle pick-me-up of green tea. Our Gyokuro Tokufu comes from the southern island of Japan Kyushu, more precisely from the area of Kirishima in Kagoshima Prefecture. Kirishima is also the name of a mountain in the prefecture, a volcanic mountain. Volcanic soil, together with the subtropical climate, the many hours of sunshine, but also the fog, make up the special conditions that can produce such wonderful tea as this Gyokuro. The tea fields are located - very idyllic - in the mountains of Kirishima, about 600 meters above sea level. Here, the tea bushes for Tokufu grow in the small organic tea garden. The Gyokuro is made exclusively from buds and young, tender leaves of the first harvest of the Cultivar Saemidori. At least 20 days before harvesting, the bushes are shaded and leaf stalks and stems are carefully removed. The carefully rolled needles of Gyokuro Tokufu show a rich, promising green, and in the cup the Gyokuro is golden and clear.
How does the organic Gyokuro Tokufu taste?
You drink a Gyokuro relatively cool - about 50 - 60 °C - and strong. Relatively much tea is brewed with relatively little water. The taste of Gyokuro is unique. Gyokuro activates the fifth, little-known quality of our sense of taste, umami. At the beginning of the 20th century, a Japanese researcher discovered umami and thus expanded the tastes sweet, sour, salty, bitter by another: savory, tasty. With umami, we recognize in particular foods that are rich in proteins. Properly prepared, the aroma of Gyokuro Tokufu is delicate and fresh. A spring flavor full of rich and deep umami, it offers a noble tea pleasure. The Gyokuro fills the mouth pleasantly dominant without any bitterness and astringency.
Organic Gyokuro Tokufu and Your Health
Health benefits of Gyokuro include general well-being, metabolism, kidney functions, concentration and memory, as well as the cardiovascular system and intestinal functions. It is recommended to drink Gyokuro especially in the morning, before meditation and before strenuous activities. This is because Gyokuro has a stimulating effect on the senses, albeit more gentle than coffee. However, the rich caffeine in the young tea leaves is bound to the catechins and thus far better tolerated than the caffeine in coffee. Organic Gyokuro Tokufu has a high content of catechins and antioxidants. The shading enriches especially amino acids, fatty acids and the chlorophyll, as well as various minerals. which also provide the exclusive taste.
Tea jewels are valuable but rare
Only small quantities of our rarities are harvested and produced each year. For this they spoil with their extraordinary characters and exquisite flavors, which have been cultivated and refined over centuries. Most of our rarities are of finest organic quality. Since only the most tender leaves of the plants are used for our teas, the plucking quantities are very small. All plucking is done by hand, carefully inspected and sorted. To fully enjoy these rare green teas, you should ideally use soft water, filtered if necessary. You can achieve an increase in flavor by boiling the water in a genuine Japanese cast iron kettle - for the sake of your health, pay attention to the quality - and preparing the tea in a Japanese teapot made of clay or cast iron (Kyusu)
