Porcelain plates from Koubei-Gama, a renowned ceramic manufactory in Gifu. These plates are crafted by hand in the traditional manner, painted, and then fired in a kiln constructed in 1977 based on historical designs. The slightly roughened surface adds an exceptional aesthetic detail to the plates. Due to the delicate nature of this porcelain ware, it's recommended to use chopsticks or wooden utensils instead of hard metal cutlery. A distinctive feature of the Homura series is its ability to be combined with other monochrome and bicolor plates from the same series. These plates are available in diameters of 20, 24, and 28 cm.

As these porcelain plates are handcrafted and painted, slight variations are to be expected and are a testament to their artisanal craftsmanship

Japanese handmade ceramics are created in high quality according to traditional manufacturing methods and convinces with high hardness, resistance and wonderful surfaces. The proverbial quality consciousness of entire generations of Japanese artisans is the basis for the tableware, which is appreciated in many countries. Often, the pieces are handmade unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that represent a successful, long tradition of artful Japanese ceramic production.

The Homura dinnerware series is made in Gifu province. The traditional manufactory is called Koubei ceramics or Koubei-gama. Koubei-gama is a Japanese ceramics manufacturer that has long preserved the tradition of Oribe ware, while always innovating changes. The history of the manufactory is about 200 years old. Ryotaro Kato, the son of the 7th Koubei, is now one of the most important, leading minds with gifted hands in the ceramics manufactory. in 1804, the workshop was founded by the first Kobei Kato. Soon, Koubei ceramics became the certified manufacturer of painted tableware for Edo Castle. The sixth Koubei Kato spent many years discovering the skills used to make ancient Persian ceramics and some of the ancient treasures in the Shosoin (Japan's Imperial Treasury House). For his accomplishments and long-time dedication to the work, he was awarded a Living National Treasure in 1995. Currently, the seventh Koubei Kato and his son Ryotaro Kato run the Koubei-Gama. Working with more than 20 skilled artisans, they strive to produce high-quality Japanese ceramics with graceful designs. Koubai-Gama is rated two stars out of three by the Michelin Green Guide Japan.

All pieces in the Homura series are unique pieces made by hand. Due to the nature of manufacturing, there may be minor irregularities, which are due to the nature of traditional manufacturing and are evidence of authenticity. These do not constitute a defect.
