"Matcha tea bowl Sabikuro"
Shinobu Hashimoto stands for unusual, experimental techniques. With his exploratory nature, he is always working out new methods for creating unusual surfaces. His goal is to create works that fit our modern lifestyle. The transience and the aesthetics of the non-perfect are essential characteristics of his works and fit the Japanese \"Wabi-Sabi\" philosophy.
The ceramics of Shinobu Hashimoto are fired in several stages with up to 1250 °C, thus the colors of the various, natural ingredients and especially the surface change. Unlike porcelain, ceramics change over time, depending on the influences to which it is exposed. Since this ceramic is not sealed, also absorbs water, reacts with it and of course also reacts to, for example, the matcha, a change in the surface is inevitable. In Japan, this is also intentional. Ceramics \"grows\", they say in Japan and - so says Shinobu - \"we enjoy the changes\", as they mean \"life\".
All pieces by ceramic artist Shinobu Hashimoto are artistically produced unique pieces. Slight deviations from the picture are possible and desired. Before use, you can soak the bowl for some time.

Shinobu Hashimoto
Potter Shinobu Hashimoto, born in Tokyo in 1969, founded the Tenstone Studio and Gallery in Hokkaido, Japan. His goal is to design and create ceramics that complement our modern lifestyle. He keeps the forms simple with minimal decoration and remains true to the original texture and shape of the clay.
Shinobu's hard work and eye for detail are evident in the finished works. Each one is made on the potter's wheel and then treated with a mix of experimental techniques. One of these techniques involves using slip instead of glaze to create a crackle effect on the surface. All of Shinobu's vessels have a lot of character and a highly individual aesthetic. We hope you enjoy them.
