This beautiful sake decanter comes from the hands of Shinobu Hashimoto, a renowned ceramic artist from Japan. The impressive, rustic pottery works are absolutely suitable for everyday use but anything but. Due to his unique way of surface treatment, Shinobu became famous all over the world and appreciated by many connoisseurs of ceramic art. Instead of a glaze, Shinobu uses slip, achieving a \"crackle\" effect that gives his works a subtle luminosity and radiance. The artist thus emphasizes the originality of the material, skillfully accentuates its character.

Shinobu Hashimoto

Potter Shinobu Hashimoto, born in Tokyo in 1969, founded the Tenstone Studio and Gallery in Hokkaido, Japan. His goal is to design and create ceramics that complement our modern lifestyle. He keeps the forms simple with minimal decoration and remains true to the original texture and shape of the clay. Shinobu's hard work and eye for detail are evident in the finished works. Each one is made on the potter's wheel and then treated with a mix of experimental techniques. One of these techniques involves using slip instead of glaze to create a crackle effect on the surface. All of Shinobu's vessels have a lot of character and a highly individual aesthetic. We hope you enjoy them.
