Arita, finest Japanese porcelain

Arita porcelain is a generic term for porcelain produced in Arita-cho, Saga Prefecture. It is characterized by both its highest quality and its widely appreciated aesthetics. Arita porcelain is hard and resistant, as white porcelain is admired for its high transparency, which almost gives the feeling of transparency. At the beginning of the Edo era (1616) in Arita was first found the raw material for Arita porcelain.

Kihara, bound to tradition, facing the future

Kihara produces only high-quality Japanese porcelain and is based in Arita, the stronghold of Japanese porcelain manufacturing. Porcelain of the highest quality has been produced here for over 400 years. Traditional motifs still play a major role, are often interpreted in a modern way or combined with completely new designs. Kihara produces with proven traditional, manufacturing methods, which are combined with modern techniques - e.g. in 3D mold design. Arita porcelain has been highly appreciated in Europe for many decades, especially the white porcelain is characterized by its noble and visually light aesthetics. But also the shapes, hardness and resilience of Arita porcelain is unparalleled.

All products are unique. Slight deviations from the picture are possible. Due to the artisan production, small irregularities are evidence of authenticity and craftsmanship and do not represent a reduction in value.

For over 400 years, porcelain has been produced in the city of Arita in Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. The Arita porcelain produced there is known for its high craftsmanship quality. Kihara today combines tradition with modernity, meaning traditional techniques are adopted and product development is adapted to modern life. Various techniques are used for the production of the very hard and durable Arita porcelain. Motifs are still popular and are sometimes interpreted in a modern way. From transfer paper methods to hand drawing, different techniques are used to enhance the porcelain.

Each item is a handcrafted masterpiece, representing the outstanding skills of the artisans. Slight variations from the illustration are possible. Through the artisanal craftsmanship, minor irregularities serve as evidence of authenticity and handwork and do not diminish the value. Acquiring these skills requires extensive training and many years of experience.
