Nikko is the name of the selected cedar wood of the carafe Tokkuri. It is a registered world cultural heritage. To maintain the tree population, wood is regularly cut, stored for a long time and processed by hand into high-quality vessels such as Tokkuri and Masu. The consumption of sake from wooden carafes and cups has a long tradition in Japan. But perfection is naturally in the blood of Kanuma's wood craftsmen. So it is only logical that the sake dishes were awarded the Tochigi Excellent Design Award.
