Chopsticks Benisakura Makie, cherry wood
These handmade chopsticks are made of genuine Japanese cherry wood with real Urushi lacquer (tree resin). Natural, tasteless and food safe. Cherry is popular not only because of its symbolism and floweriness, but also the wood, which belongs to the noble woods, is widely used for high-quality furniture construction, decorative and utility objects. Gato Mikio manufactory is one of the traditional lacquerware manufacturers and is very famous for its high quality craftsmanship. The design of Gato Mikio products has received many awards worldwide. Urushi refers to the natural varnish made from tree resin and at the same time the technique of processing, which has been practiced for about 6000 years. Urushi has been practiced at a high artistic level since about the 6th century. For many centuries, Urushi products were luxury items and reserved exclusively for the imperial family and nobility.
Chopstick rest Hashioki, Cherry
This beautiful chopstick rest is crafted in the traditional kabazaiku technique. Kabazaiku has a tradition of over 200 years in Japan. The cherry trees whose bark and wood are used are wild mountain cherry trees. The cherry is relatively undemanding as far as soil is concerned and thrives even at high altitudes. The Japanese cherry is mainly known from the Japanese cherry blossom festival Hanami, which honors the cherry - a sanctuary of Japan - in its beautiful blossom. The fact that the wood of the cherry has also been highly valued in Europe and other parts of the world for thousands of years is proven, among other things, by many archaeological finds.
All products are unique. Slight deviations from the picture are possible. Due to the artisan production, small irregularities are evidence of authenticity and craftsmanship and do not represent a reduction in value.
