Japanese very high quality wooden tea caddy. First class traditional craftsmanship. The tea caddy has two closures, an inner and an outer lid and is made of zelkove, the wood of the Japanese elm tree. One of the most valuable trees in Japan. The wood is protected by the famous Japanese Urushi lacquer (natural tree resin lacquer, naturally food safe). The fine decorations are very carefully crafted and emphasize the naturalness of the products. Tea caddies made of wood are very appreciated by tea connoisseurs, they regulate humidity and temperature fluctuations. When used properly, they can intensify the taste of valuable teas. The tea caddies of Gato Mikio are typical products from Japan. They combine tradition, closeness to nature, a high level of design with perfect craftsmanship and fit perfectly with both modern and classic lifestyles. All Gato Miko products are handmade. The wood of these tea caddies comes from the Japanese zelkove, a species of elm tree that is very commonly used for high-quality furniture, decorative and utility items. Japanese zelkove, also called keyaki in Japan, is a mighty tree found in Japan, Korea, eastern China and Taiwan. The natural occurrence is relatively small, because of its valuable and very useful wood, zelkove is also actively cultivated by forestry. The natural Urushi lacquer used is applied very thinly in several layers to give the best effect to the finely carved surfaces and grain of the wood.

Real lacquerware, pure craftsmanship

In Gato Mikio's tea caddies, the caddy and lid are handcrafted to form a good seal while being easy to open. Optimal use is made of the wood's ability to regulate moisture and temperature to protect the contents. The tea caddies provide natural protection for the tea leaves and an amazing level of sealing. Especially the protection from moisture is particularly pronounced due to the material wood. The design is created by a traditional woodturning technique mastered exclusively in Yamanaka called Kasyokubiki. There are more than forty different patterns (hira-suji) of this wooden decoration. The tea caddies can be used to store green tea, black tea, China teas, herbal teas and also coffee beans.

Excellente Verarbeitung
Ich war positiv überrascht von der sehr guten Verarbeitung der Teedose. Habe mir die Größe L gekauft. Alle Teile passen sehr gut, da klappert nichts. Die Perfekte Aufbewahrung von Tee. Angenehme Haptik. Das Produkt überzeugt. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Eine hervorragend gearbeitete Dose. In die Größe M passen nicht ganz 100 g Sencha. Wer 100 g in die Dose einfüllen möchte, der sollte die größere Dose nehmen. Sie ist innen und außen mit dem lebensmittelechten Urushi lackiert. So ist der Sencha gut
aufgehoben. Qualität wie immer top.
