"Drinking cup Sen, black"
Real Japanese lacquer art
Drinking from exquisite Shikki cups has ancient tradition and is pure pleasure. They are light, beautiful and of selected naturalness. Genuine Japanese lacquerware is very durable craftsmanship, which is more and more appreciated all over the world by connoisseurs of modern Asian table culture. Their shapes are modern, extremely aesthetic and wonderfully pleasant to the hand. The production is traditional, truly masterful and makes each cup an exquisite element on the stylishly set table. The rare wood of Japanese sen proudly displays its beautiful grain under the natural Urushi varnish, a biological tree resin varnish that protects, preserves and makes the surface a caress for the hands.

Senesche, from drinking cups to piano making
The sen tree is found only in East Asia. It is a deciduous tree, grows up to 30 meters high and reaches a diameter of about 1 meter. The botanical name Kalopanax indicates two characteristics: kalo means beautiful and panax means something like panacea. Even though the wood of Asian mustard has certain similarities with ash wood, they are not related. Sen wood is significantly - about 20% - lighter and also softer than ash wood. Sen wood is excellently suited for high-quality decorative processing. Very smooth surfaces are possible, the grain is very soft flowing. Sen wood is used in Japan for furnishings, carving, pianos and jewelry, as well as for utilitarian objects (lacquerware)
All products are unique. Slight deviations from the illustration are possible.

Gato Mikio
The company Gato Mikio was founded in 1908 in Yamanaka Onsen by Kaga as a wood workshop called Wareto. Yamanaka Onsen is located in Ishikawa Prefecture in western Japan, approximately at the same latitude as Tokyo.
For 450 years, Ishikawa Prefecture has been known for producing lacquerware (lacquerware, urushi), wooden products with elaborate lacquer coatings. The Gato Mikio workshop utilizes the advantages of traditional Yamanaka lacquerware production, where high-quality, selected woods are precisely shaped using a potter's wheel. In this way, Gato Miko has created exceptionally beautiful Japanese wooden tableware, which has been awarded numerous design prizes. With the same craftsmanship, specially designed tea caddies, bowls, and tablets for green tea are also produced from wood.
Craftsmanship perfection and stylish, modern design are the outstanding features of Gato Mikio's products. With unique, sophisticated design products, this workshop has earned an excellent reputation worldwide. Gato Mikio is one of the leading manufacturers of high-end lacquerware in Japan and is among the most renowned worldwide.
