Rice bowl from the Naoemon series by Tsuchinao. The bowl, which of course can be used for more than just enjoying delicious rice, is made by experienced craftsmen from the high-quality wood Zelkove and lacquered with Urushi, the natural tree resin lacquer. The craftsmen use two traditional techniques for this: Maki-ji and Kijiro-nuri. This not only gives the surface of the bowl a very pleasant, soft feel, it also protects it extremely efficiently. The grain of the wood is visible through the lacquer and becomes more and more beautiful the more you use the bowl.
