"Coaster Iwachu Arare, Ø 13.5 cm, Black-Silver"
The best quality from the hands of experienced artisans
Few artisans in Japan make tetsubin, Kyusu and many other high quality products from cast iron using the traditional methods of ancient Japan. The working process, in order to achieve the desired high quality, is very time-consuming and requires many years of experience from the masters. Elaborate clay molds are made by hand on the lathe and can usually be used for only 4 or 5 products. The world's most famous brand of handmade Nanbu tetsubin and Kyusu made of cast iron (tea pot) is Iwachu, Iwate Prefecture. Only natural materials are used as raw materials: tested iron ore and iron sand, Urushi lacquer, green tea and vinegar for the tetsubin, sealing and protecting the outer surfaces. Classic designs like the Arare motif but also picture motifs or very reduced designs are the rule. Colors are used rather rarely in the Tetsubin, Kyusu are also available in very different, modern colors.
All products are unique. Slight deviations from the picture are possible. Due to the handmade production, small irregularities in the shape and surface are possible. Iwachu products are only genuine with the original stamp on the product.
Use
It is best to clean dry. If necessary, use infused green tea leaves.

For over 400 years, artisans in Iwate Prefecture have been painstakingly handcrafting this black gold. Whether grill pan, roasting pan or cooking pot: each piece is unique and is characterized by the highest quality of workmanship and durability. The traditional "Nanbu Tekki" manufacturing method produces one of the thinnest-walled cast iron products in the world. Minimalist and purist design for the highest cooking standards. More and more friends of fine tableware and upscale gastronomy are convinced by the excellent cooking properties: cast iron made in Iwate ensures even heat distribution and is suitable for all types of stoves.
Many individual pieces have received prestigious awards such as the "Good Design Award Japan" and are now an integral part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York.
