Tea bowl Tobikanna, Banko Yaki, 60 ml

  • SKU: 060120
Small, fine tea bowl Tobikanna from Suigetsu from Yokkaichi. The tea bowl fits perfectly with the Kyusu Tobikanna, but can also be combined with other teapots from Suigetsu. Like the teapot, this graceful, petite tea bowl is made from the famous natural clay of Mie Prefecture. For many hundreds of years, high quality clay pottery has been painstakingly handcrafted by artisans in this prefecture. The purple clay is very rich in iron and minerals and is one of the most valuable raw materials for tea ware. Especially among connoisseurs of first-class green tea such as Gyokuro, Kabusecha and noble Sencha, Banko ceramics are highly sought after. Hiroshi Suigetsu is one of the great artists of traditional Japanese ceramic production. As the third master, he has led the Yokkaichi Ceramic Association for many years, and his impressive career has been accompanied by many honors and awards. The Tobikanna tea bowl has a very vivid pattern that is created as it is turned on the potter's wheel. Only the skilled hands of a true artist can create such a playful yet harmonious decor. Depending on the incidence of light, the pretty and interesting face of the tea bowl changes and provides a quiet entertainment while relaxing enjoyment of fine teas.

Note: The tea bowls are purely handmade. Therefore, they may vary in terms of shape, size and wall thickness and differ from the exemplary picture.
