This very traditional pan is used to bake bread and cakes in Japan. The Tami Pan is reminiscent of our Gugelhupf mold, which, as we all know, should not be missing in any active kitchen. However, the Tami Pan is used directly on the stove or - especially in the past - on the fire. The history of the Tami Pan is ancient and already therefore too long to tell here. The Tami Pan was revived after the war, when the people of Japan were very poorly and the Tami Pan was used to make children happy. One woman, Tamiko Oumi, is closely related to this story because she, who lived to be 104 years old, made the Tami Pan popular again.

The Tami Pan bread classic

Ingredients: 1 egg, 60 g sugar, a pinch of salt, 100 ml milk, 150 g flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, butter. Mix eggs and sugar, add salt and milk. Mix flour and baking powder, then slowly add. Rub Tami Pan inside, including lid, thoroughly with butter. Pour batter into Tami Pan, Bake about 20 minutes at rather low heat. Try it!
