Founded in 1973, Ceramic Japan hails from the historic ceramic region of Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. The manufactory's core philosophy is to blend first-class product design with traditional craftsmanship. This ethos still stands as the cornerstone of their operations. Products from Ceramic Japan strike a harmonious balance between design excellence and unique production techniques. Both domestically and internationally, Ceramic Japan has carved a niche for itself with its outstanding products, which marry practicality with artistry. Notably, some of their creations have found a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Makoto Komatsu
Makoto Komatsu, a world-renowned designer, has especially distinguished himself with his ceramic works. Born in Tokyo, he pursued his studies and eventually held a professorship at Musashino Art University. His works have been showcased in exhibitions spanning cities like Tokyo, Paris, New York, London, Shanghai, Beijing, and Oslo. Komatsu has been the recipient of numerous international design awards and his creations are represented in major museums across the globe.
