This large dressing block has several advantages. It stands securely on its rubber feet and you can move your water whetstone over the dressing block in light circular motions and by sliding it back and forth. Your water whetstone should be well watered beforehand. Then light pressure is all that is needed and your water whetstone will be wonderfully flat and level again. Many knife sharpeners prefer this method, because you have so more feeling for his grindstone.

A tip: If you draw several lines on the surface with a pencil before flattening your water grindstone, you can control the effect of the dressing block well. If all lines have disappeared, the surface of your water grinding stone is ideally smoothed again.
