Kyusu Kintsuru Mitsukoshi, Banko Yaki

  • SKU: 060070
Stunningly beautiful Japanese teapot with side handle by Suigetsu Toen. This artfully designed and perfectly crafted Kyusu is made of the famous natural purple clay of Mie Prefecture and artfully decorated with gold. Just as it has been the tradition there for hundreds of years. This clay is very rich in iron and minerals and is one of the most valuable raw materials for tea ware. Banko Yaki teapots are especially recommended for high-class, mild tea varieties such as Gyokuro, Kabusecha and noble Sencha.
Hiroshi Suigetsu is one of the great artists of traditional Japanese ceramic production. As the third master, he has led the Yokkaichi Ceramic Association for many years, and his impressive career has been accompanied by many honors and awards. The Kyusu Kintsuru, after coming out of the wood-fired traditional ceramic kiln, was decorated by Suigetsu with a special sandblasting technique with wonderful flying cranes. The golden cranes in particular seem to truly move. A wonderful teapot that promises the highest pleasure but also shows the perfect craftsman.
