Green tea is a wonderful and flavorful world. But of course there is also tea enjoyment to be discovered in Japan apart from green tea. Sweet Sakura is such a tea with an overwhelming aroma and a fine, beguiling sweetness. It is light, smooth and convinces with its fine, flowery taste. The delicate aroma is visually emphasized with its color in the cup, a transparent rosé.

Sweet Sakura complies with EU standards. The tea leaves were grown organically, the cherry tree leaves, which give the tea its special aroma, are harvested as whole leaves, processed and then broken so that the sweetness develops well. The tea comes from Kagoshima, in the south of Japan, the cherry tree leaves and flowers from Nagano, which is located in western Japan just north of Tokyo.

Sweet Sakura

Super-premium Sweet Sakura is made from the tea leaves of the cultivars Yabukita, Asatsuyu and Meiryoku. Yabukita is a very popular cultivar in Japan, although it is quite delicate and organic farmers have to take great care of it. But it provides a lot of umami and is therefore worth almost any effort. The cultivar for Sweet Sakura is grown on Japan's southern island of Kyushu, more specifically from the area around Kirishima in Kagoshima Prefecture. Kirishima is also the name of a mountain in the prefecture, a volcanic mountain. Volcanic soil, together with the subtropical climate, the many hours of sunshine, but also the fog, make up the special conditions that can produce wonderful teas. The tea fields are located - very idyllic - in the mountains of Kirishima, about 300 meters above sea level. The black tea is mild, but has an uplifting effect. Its aroma is characterized by a fine, sweet note, which also comes from the small portions of cherry tree leaves and cherry blossoms. Hot or cold, the Sweet Sakura offers plenty of flavor for a contemplative tea break or as a companion to a fine meal.

What does Sweet Sakura black tea taste like

The Sweet Sakura is a fine, aromatic and mild tea. The subtle sweetness, the noticeable umami and the mild roasted aromas result in a high balance that gives its character. To fully enjoy this fine black tea, you should ideally use soft water, filtered if necessary. You can achieve an increase in flavor if you boil the water in a genuine Japanese cast iron kettle - for the sake of your health, pay attention to the quality - and prepare the tea in a Japanese teapot made of clay or cast iron (Kyusu).

Our ORYOKI tea comes from an organic-certified tea farm located on the island of Kyushu in Kagoshima, southern Japan.
